The Nissan LEAF has definitely left its mark on Stockholm as the Nissan LEAF tour visited the city one early autumn week in September. On Medborgarplatsen, the intrigued Stockholmers had the opportunity to experience the Nissan LEAF in real life. During the seven days of electrifying presence in Medborgarplatsen over 400 Stockholmers got the first hand experience of pure, emission-free driving and over 1 400 visited the Nissan LEAF experience centre for information and discussions.
“We are so excited over the response we have received during the tour and we are even more excited that we very soon can commence our commercial launch in Sweden. Hopefully the Nissan LEAF tour was an eye-opener for many Swedes that electric vehicles is a realistic alternative for them,” says Jenny Spets Wojarski, Communications Manager Nissan Sweden
The LEAF tour kicked off with a press event and a launch party where both media and celebrities got the chance to look and feel and drive the LEAF. During the tour Nissan also got the chance to present the Swedish price for the Nissan LEAF. The 100 percent electric vehicle will cost 329 990 SEK (including VAT and the recently announced Super green incentive (Supermiljöbilspremien) of 40 000 SEK). The price also includes the battery with a five year or 100 000 km warranty, a five year subscription to the unique on-board telematic service and also EV specific roadside assistance.
What is extraordinary with Nissan LEAF, and EVs in general, is however the extremely low running costs. In Sweden the running costs are calculated at 16 SEK/100 km – compare that to the running costs of your current car!
The first cars in Sweden are expected to be ready for delivery during the first quarter of 2012. Deliveries have already begun in the UK, the Netherlands, Ireland, Portugal and France and the order book is currently filling up in Switzerland, Spain, Belgium and Norway and will soon open in Denmark.
“We see the Nissan LEAF as the first realistic alternative to conventional cars and after our week in Medborgarplatsen this is also the feedback we receive from the people who have driven it. The Nissan LEAF, and the electric vehicle as a concept, is definitely here to stay,” says Jenny Spets Wojarski.
